Misty Farnsworth

Guess who's back? Back again? Blog feature FRIDAY!!!! I've always wanted to put that out there ha ha! Howdy y'all we are back again with an AMAZING feature for y'all today! We have the beautiful, talented, bad ass mama and silversmith, Misty Chan'telle Farnsworth. Also known as SPOILED COWGIRLZ!  Misty is a mama to 4 kiddos, two daughters ages 23 & 14 & two boys 12 & 9. She is also married to her "burly farmer man"! Let's get to know her more!!

Misty Farnsworth and her family

Misty is a Southern Arizona Native and she has been creating since 2008. She started as a hobby in 2008 and it officially became a business in 2010. I asked Misty how she chose this career path and what she had to say was pretty darn good! "Honestly, I've had Entrepreneurial tendencies since a young age...I've always been one to hustle. I remember as a kid selling fruit from my grandfather's fruit trees to kids on the bus, and selling tickets to my driveway dance party on Friday nights, so it started young. It's always been in my blood to do my own thing. As for my jewelry business, it started as a hobby! I was a stay at home mom with my second daughter and held a steady job,so it was hard for me not to go completely stir crazy! I needed an outlet and had always been interested in jewelry design. Over the years it has expanded to a legitimate full blown business!"

We all know that we have a story behind the names of our business. When I asked Misty how she came up with the name of her business she said it was a friend who named it. She said "during the summer months it's not uncommon for my family & friends to get together, often, for bonfires and beers...one evenings I had just finished up an impromptu photoshoot and had the girls come over afterwards (in full garb). This big ol" cowboy friend of my husband's saw all of us decked out and says "Well ain't y'all just a buncha Spoiled Cowgirl's!" and it was like an instant light went off and I knew that had to be my business name!Where did you come up with the name of your business? Oddly enough it was a friend who named the business. During the summer months it's not uncommon for my family & friends to get together, often, for bonfires and beers...one evenings I had just finished up an impromptu photoshoot and had the girls come over afterwards (in full garb). This big ol" cowboy friend of my husband's saw all of us decked out and says "Well ain't y'all just a buncha Spoiled Cowgirl's!" and it was like an instant light went off and I knew that had to be my business name!' Ah, but the "Z" was added to give the name some spice, cause if you know Misty you know she is all about that spice!

Misty, SPOILED COWGIRLZ silversmith maker

As a maker we obviously love what we do but there is always one thing that just outshines it all. The one thing that just gives us that creative drive and the reason to keep on going. Misty loves what she does and you can see all that love in every single piece that she makes. "I absolutely love the fact that when I sit down at my bench the sky's the limit! I have a very creative mind and the freedom to do and create whatever I want is exhilarating!" Now, all of her pieces are GORGEOUS but my favorite pieces are her old trucker pins that she has made into these beautiful jewelry pieces. Another thing as a maker we all have that one piece that we just hold up way higher because we are so proud of it. It was the one piece that made us think, "shit, I made THAT!" Let's hear Misty's favorite piece she has created. "Often I create pieces that I'm absolutely in love with! If I had to choose one, it would be a piece I did back in 2019, it was a longhorn lariat style necklace with the most gorgeous turquoise stones. It was the most expensive piece I had ever made at that point." Original! That's about all I can say about her pieces. What inspires Misty? "Living in the southwest I've always been greatly inspired by my surroundings. The desert is full of dangerous and beautiful creatures that I love to incorporate into my designs. I also love anything Cowboy so it just goes hand in hand." Original desert cowboy vibes that is FOR SURE!

It's not all work and no play. Misty loves spending time with her family and they enjoy being together. They love to hunt and hang out at the river. They also love to take quad rides in the desert. Now, that sounds like some real fun! Let's talk food and drinks!! This is the good part hahaha! Misty says she is a foody. So, I asked her what the strangest thing she has ever eaten. " I love to eat! The wildest thing I've ever eaten was Wagyu beef tartare...I will try anything just about once, but that was something I never want to put in my mouth again!! Guess I'll stick to my medium rare beef!! Now, here's the real good stuff. It's time to kick up our feet and relax with the Mango Margarita recipe but it has a twist!
"Living My Best Life". It's basically a mango marg with a twist!
4 cups ice
1 fresh mango (diced into cubes)
8 oz silver tequila
4 oz orange liqueur
3 oz agave nectar (simple syrup)
2 oz fresh lime juice
In a blender mix all the above ingredients. Coat the rim of a margarita glass with Chamoy and Tajin, then pour in the drink. Garnish the top of the drink with mango chunks, an extra drizzle of chamoy, a sprinkle of Tajin and finish with a tamarind candy straw... now go sit by the pool! You'll thank me, IT'S THAT GOOD!!
Misty leaves us with this advice. "I guess the best advice I could ever give anyone is: Be yourself and enjoy whatever it is that you do, always be kind but never take any shit and finally brush off the small stuff...it's not worth the wrinkles! XOXO"
